5 Cocktails to Get The Most HoHoHo from Your Holidays

The holiday season is upon us once again. How do you put a little extra cheer into your parties? Here are five fun cocktails that will bring you holiday cheer!

1. Eggnog

The holiday wouldn’t be complete without a smooth, creamy eggnog cocktail! Here’s an easy-to-make version everyone is sure to love.

  • 1 1/2 ounces ruby port
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces rum
  • Grated nutmeg for garnish


  1. Combine the ruby port, egg, simple syrup, and rum in a cocktail shaker
  2. Shake to combine the ingredients
  3. Add ice and shake again
  4. Strain into a glass
  5. Add the nutmeg for garnish

2. White Christmas Dream

We’re all dreaming of a white Christmas, but that may not be on Santa’s list this year. Have a White Christmas cocktail, instead.

  • 1 ounce heavy cream
  • 1 ounce amaretto liqueur
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • Grated nutmeg for garnish


  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Add all ingredients except nutmeg
  3. Shake to mix
  4. Strain and pour over ice into a chilled glass 
  5. Add the nutmeg for garnish

3. Angel’s Delight

Rejoice! Here’s a beautiful dessert cocktail for sitting around the fireplace, waiting for Santa.

  • 3/4 ounce triple sec
  • 1 ounce cream
  • 3/4 ounce gin
  • 2–3 dashes grenadine


  1. Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker
  2. Add ice
  3. Shake well
  4. Strain and pour into a chilled glass

4. The Grinch

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch, but at least you have a tasty cocktail!

  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  • 2 ounces melon liqueur
  • 1 Maraschino cherry for garnish


  1. Pour lemon juice, melon liqueur, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker. 
  2. Fill with ice
  3. Shake
  4. Strain and pour into a glass
  5. Add cherry for garnish

5. Slow Cooker Red Wine Hot Cocoa

This is the easiest (and most delicious) spiked hot chocolate in the world.

  • 8 cups milk
  • 12 ounces dark chocolate chips
  • 1 bottle (750 mls) of red wine
  • I scoop cocoa powder
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg


  1. Mix ingredients into your slow cooker
  2. Cover and cook on high for around one hour, stirring as needed
  3. Check that the ingredients have all melted and are heated evenly
  4. Serve right from the slow cooker pot
